Paris Dec 09 Workshop









Event Description

On December 8th we are planning to host a workshop at the IAP, Paris, concerning the mission concept "THESIS", now submitted to NASA, with the intention of submitting a similar proposal to ESA at the next call for proposals for medium size missions in 2010.

Thesis is a 1.4 m space telescope with NIR and MIR spectrographs, expected to characterise spectroscopically the atmospheres of giant and terrestrial exoplanets transiting their parent star (or with the combined light technique). Thesis can characterise also planets in the habitable zone of later type stars.

The workshop will be held on 8th December, 2009, at the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (, at:

98bis, Boulevard Arago, 75014 Paris (Map).The room will be indicated at the entrance.


The workshop is scheduled to start at 11:00 and end by 18:00. 

Coffee and tea will be provided in the morning, and the workshop will be followed by a wine and cheese tasting event.

Accessing the IAP

The IAP is located at 98bis, Boulevard Arago, 75014 Paris, in the 14th Arrondissement.

The closest Metro (Underground/Subway) station is Denfert-Rocherau, accesible from lines 4 and 6, and the RER-B train. See the Paris public transport website (RATP):
